The Good Wife's Guide - eBook Review

Today I’m so excited to be presenting a review of the book The Good Wife’s Guide by Darlene Schacht.

A few weeks ago when I volunteered to read The Good Wife’sGuide I never would have imagined that Darlene would find me a good candidate to offer a review for her book. As you can imagine I was more than elated when I received a responding email with a download link for the book and some encouraging words that she had posted in a Facebook status update to the “small bloggers”.

Darlene Schacht has a genuine heart and passion to help women embrace their role as a help-meet and to joyfully serve their families as keepers of the home. She has written a guide to offer practical advice to “lead women towards a noble character and good family values”. The foreword of The Good Wife's Guide is written by Candace Cameron Bure -author of Reshaping it All!  This book is written in such a way that her words make you feel like she [Darlene] is sitting on your living room sofa explaining the information to you and guiding you as you acquire various life changing principles.

The Good Wife’s Guide is written in an easy-to-follow format that provides basic guidelines that are necessary for women to embrace their roles in the home and to be the “good wife” God intended them to be. Darlene also lays out an ample amount of scriptural instruction to further demonstrate the topics included in each chapter.

Included in this book are chapters filled with a wealth of information to help women in many areas of their lives. Some topics included: managing our time, setting priorities, using our strengths, what biblical submission really is as well as so much more. Each page is filled with encouragement and inspiration to help even the domestically challenged gain a new perspective and love for their home. Also included in the last few chapters of the book are housecleaning schedules and deep cleaning techniques for various rooms in your home.

This book has helped me to pinpoint a few areas in my life and home that need a little extra work and has reinforced some concepts that are already in place. I do not believe there were any statements within the book that I found I disagreed with. Instead, I found plenty of uplifting words to help me become the wife I need to be with scriptural evidence to back it up. With The Good Wife’s Guide I now have an excellent go-to resource for when I need a little “good wife” pick-me-up!

I would definitely recommend this book to all wives as well as those getting ready to take on such an important role. With society pulling in every direction to lead us away from biblical principles, The Good Wife’sGuide is there to push us back right where we need to be.

In her own words from her bio on Time-Warp Wife:

I'm an ordinary mom, living an extraordinary life, because of who I am through Jesus Christ. As help-meet to my husband Michael, I guide and nurture our four children, leading them toward a deeper walk of faith.

I love all things vintage: clothing, ornate furniture, dishes, and strong family values. I cherish the days when giving one’s word meant something to her in this life. When the sanctity of marriage was reserved for a man and his wife. When women were women and men were just men. When the only choice society offered was ‘life.’

I cherish vintage values, and yet I understand they are simply a means to an end. Yes they are to be cherished, but unless I couple those values with strong conviction based upon the Word of God and what is right in His sight, they are nothing but tradition, custom and practice.
